Recent purchase, to date used for one lengthy multi-country international trip and a couple of shorter (1 week or less) domestic trips. The rear compartment is too thin, room for only a thin laptop/iPad, a book, a magazine or two – chargers/cords create a problem. The main compartment is too small to accommodate a change of clothing, etc., in the event of luggage loss. The pack straps are not designed for someone with broad shoulders wearing a jacket – at times a tight fit. Zippers are easily opened, causing security concerns – recommend microlock S-biners on each zipper set. Bottom line: the pack achieves my intended purpose of reducing the expeditionary appearance of my other packs; however, if going on a long trip I recommend also using a small carryon. I would buy and use this pack again, but for longer trips I might consider a larger model.

Really like the backpack. It has loads of space but doesnt seem big on the outside. Also like when I sit it down it sits upright. Not a feature I would have thought useful but appreciate it. Really like that there are many pockets and compartments. And my 22 oz hydroflask fits perfectly in either side.

Awesome backpack. Holds pretty much everything I need for work and for travel and it’s all super convenient to access. Especially love the little magnetic pocket for my phone and passport near the handle. Also perfect size for my water bottle. Of course it’s also stylish, but you expect that from Tumi.

Ive been eyeing this backpack for months now and the toughest decision was debating whether the search or the navigation leather or ballistic nylon. After countless YouTube videos and comparisons between this bag and other bags. I took the daily bag I used (prior to buying the search) into the tumi store for a trial and error to see which bag fit all my daily essentials the best.
While the navigation backpack has the expansion zipper it lacked pockets and a water bottle pocket. If you dont carry much the navigation would work well, but I was looking for a bag I could use daily and also benefit for travel. On the navigation you would only be able to comfortably fit a regular sized plastic water bottle comfortably meanwhile the search can easily fit up to two 20oz water bottle. One side for coffee and the other side for water
Now for travel I was surprised on how much clothes I was able to fit and I opt for the ballistic nylon, as it serves to be more functional, low profile, and lighter.
I took a month long trip and was able to fit a months worth of clothes in My search backpack & a medium sized duffle. Meaning anyone can easily fit a weeks worth of clothes in the search if you plan your trip right & expect to do laundry.
For this reason alone is why I chose the Tumi Search and I can confidently attest it held up to its standards. The hooks and loops also serve as other ways to ensure you can fit all your clothes in the backpack comfortably since you can hang a blanket, jacket, water bottle, pillow, and other accessories. There is a reason why this backpack is their best seller and most popular bag of choice. My only recommendation is get a sternum strap if you plan to travel with it. I didnt have one but thankfully they thought ahead and added hooks and loops on the strap, so Ill be adding that to my bag for future travels.
